What Should I Expect in a Grown-Up & Me Ballet Class?

Our Grown Up & Me ballet class is designed for children ages 1.5 to 3 and their favorite grown-ups. And yes, grown-ups should come prepared to dance!

These classes are a joyful first introduction to ballet and creative movement, but they are also something more: dedicated time for you and your child to move, laugh, learn, and connect together.

What Do Parents Do During Grown Up & Me?

Parents and caregivers actively participate throughout the class.

You might hold your dancer’s hand as you move around the studio, help them find their special spot, sit together for an activity, encourage their tiptoes, help make shapes with their feet and bodies, or dance right alongside them.

You don't need any dance experience. Your job is simply to participate and help your little dancer feel comfortable exploring something new.

What Do Toddlers Learn?

Our Grown Up & Me classes introduce toddlers to movement and music while supporting early developmental skills.

Through age-appropriate ballet and creative movement activities, children can practice spatial awareness, gross motor skills, body awareness, listening, decision-making, coordination, and participating in a group environment.

Most importantly, they begin learning that the dance studio is a happy place to move and explore.

A Little Time to Slow Down Together

There is another reason we love Grown Up & Me.

Family life moves quickly. Our classes create a little pocket of time when you can put everything else aside and be completely present with your child.

For us, one of the sweetest moments is watching a young dancer look toward their grown-up after trying something new and light up when they receive a big round of applause, smile, or warm hug.

Those moments are just as important as the ballet steps.

Petite Ballet’s Grown Up & Me classes are held at Beam & Barre in Cos Cob, Greenwich, CT and welcome families from Greenwich, Stamford, Rye Brook, Port Chester, and surrounding communities.
